Fundraising, Communications, and School Support

Book Fair 

 (C)

Held twice a year to promote reading, to add books to the school library and raise funds. Volunteer’s help children make wish lists, find books, set up, take down, register, and door control.

Membership 

 (C)

Along with the entire board, the president and the membership chairman are partners in guiding and directing the membership committee in a successful membership campaign. Each member of the membership committee has a vital role to play in the ongoing membership promotion and must always be included and involved in all aspects of the committee’s goals, duties and responsibilities

Race for Education 

 (C)

Glade’s major fundraiser for the school and PTA.  Students have fun running or walking for 1 hour.  This essential committee needs volunteers to work behind the scenes copying, writing, filing, and mailing. Volunteers are also needed on race day to assist students, hand out treats, and other various responsibilities.

School Directory 

 (L)

Each year families can elect to have their name and contact information included in this directory that is distributed in the fall.  Volunteers are needed to proof read the information.

School Rewards 
Box Tops

(L)

Glade families collect Box Tops and Labels for Education UPCs throughout the school year. Volunteers help to clip, sort, and count, update progress, copy and hand out contest prizes.  Chair also manages the electronic school rewards programs ensuring the school is signed up annually.  (ex. AmazonSmile, Shutterfly, Giant A+, & Giant Eagle)

School Supply Kits

Glade PTA partners with School Kidz to provide school supply kits to families prior to the beginning of the school year.

Spirit Wear 

(L)

T-shirts, shorts, and other items are available for purchase each fall. Volunteers help coordinate orders and assist with distribution.

Volunteer Coordinator 

(C)

Records areas of interest from the volunteer form sent out at the beginning of the school year.  Provides volunteer contact information to chairpersons for PTA and school events.  Tracks volunteer hours performed at Glade and submits cumulative hours forward at end of year.  Schedules volunteer training, issues volunteer badges, and maintains School Check-In system.

Website/Facebook Administrator 

 (L)

Maintains the Glade PTA website.  Responsibilities include updating information for meetings, fundraisers, membership, etc.  Maintains the PTA calendar.  Updates FB with current events, calendar reminders, etc.

 

                                                                  

Academic and School Programs

Art Club 

 (L)

Stay after school to create beautiful works of art, have fun, and learn more about the visual arts!  8 week session (1 evening per week).

Cultural Arts 

(C)

Coordinates performances/assemblies at the school with the principal.  Volunteers help to choose the performers and coordinate with the school administration regarding times and dates.

Fifth Grade Celebration 

 (C)

The end of year picnic and celebration ceremony for students in the fifth grade.  Volunteers are usually fifth grade parents and work closely with the fifth grade teachers. Help will be needed donating food, for set up, monitoring activity stations, preparing slide show and clean up. 

Reading Night 

 (L)

Reading Night to be held in conjunction with Spring Bookfair.  The PTA Reading Committee will work with the Glade Staff Reading Committee to plan a fun and educational night that promotes reading, will allow students/parents a chance to learn new reading techniques, get new books and generally celebrate reading as a pastime.

Reflections Art Fair 

 (C)

An opportunity for students to showcase their artistic abilities on a given topic. Categories include dance, song, poetry, photography, and other.  Coordinates this National PTA program encouraging students to create original works of art based on a theme.  Responsibilities include promoting the program to parents and students, providing entry forms and guidelines to students/families, submitting student entries for cluster and district judging to the PTA Council, and planning and hosting a student recognition ceremony.  Volunteers are needed to help solicit entries, display the artwork, judge, set up/take down the Gala

Science Fair

Works with the Science Fair staff member to coordinate the annual fair held annually at Glade.  Volunteers help display projects, set up, judge and clean up.

Social Studies Fair 

(C)

Works with the Social Studies Fair staff member to coordinate the annual fair held annually at Glade.  Volunteers help display projects, set up, judge and clean up.

Yoga Club 

(L) 

Start your day by learning to relax with some basic yoga moves.  Multiple sessions offered throughout the school year.

 

Community and Social Programs

Movie Nights 

 (C) 

Plans at least 3 movie nights.  Coordinator is responsible for scheduling, supplying and running snack booth, advertising thru emails, and making and hanging posters.

Community Outreach/

Coat Drive 

 (L)

Identify and coordinate appropriate charitable endeavors & other outreach efforts for Glade PTA to contribute to the community.

Dads and Donuts 

 (C)

 

A June breakfast for dads (or any adult) and their student before school begins.  Volunteer opportunities for this event include set up, serving, parking control and clean up. 

Ice Cream Social 

 (C)

Family ice cream social (grandparents) during Book Fair in the Fall.  Volunteers are needed to help setup, coordinate and run event.

May Fair 

(C) 

A fun fair held at Glade with bounce houses, contests, crafts, science, sports, basket raffle, snow cones, popcorn, etc.  Volunteers can help with set up, take down, activity stations, donations for raffle…these are just a few!

Moms and Muffins 

 (C)

A breakfast for moms (or an0y adult) and their student held before school near Mother’s Day.  Volunteer opportunities include set up, serving, parking control and clean up. 

Restaurant Nights 

 (L)

Plans at least 3-5 restaurant nights to raise funds as well as provide an opportunity for families to dine together.  Contacts local restaurants and advertises the events.  Coordinator is responsible for scheduling, follow up, advertising thru emails, and making and hanging posters.

School Beautification 

 (L)

To keep the entrance of the school welcoming by designing the PTA bulletin board in lobby and replacing flower pots as needed.

Staff Appreciation 

 (C)

 

Show appreciation to teachers, staff, and bus drivers with birthday treats, dinners, and Staff Appreciation Week.  Volunteers are needed to donate and serve food, to make and hand out gifts, setting and cleaning up.

Fall Fest 

 (C)

Help coordinate Fall Sock Hop & Trunk or treat, & Fun Run, Volunteers needed to assist parking setup, setup for snacks, DJ booth and fun run.
